If you are traveling NH Highway 26 between Errol and Colebrook, you're bound to spot Millsfield. You'll know you're there when you see the Log Haven Campground, Restaurant & Lounge. The town's population of just a couple of dozen people might not otherwise give its presence away. It's reported that the town didn't receive electric or phone service until the 1960's.

The town has recently gained new prominence. With the closing of the nearby Balsams Ski Resort, and the passage of recent legislation in the state's capitol of Concord, Millsfield will now become the nation's first community to cast ballots in the 2016 presidential election. The town also receives limelight for being dab-smack in the route for the controversial Northern Pass project. The proposed high-tower, high-capacity electric transmission line is hotly contested by many locals concerned about area scenic skyline encroachment. If that wasn't enough, a large new wind farm in the town threatened to rocket local property taxes skyward until the town was rescued by the state legislature.

Like most towns deep in the north country, Millsfield has good access to ATV and snowmobile trails. The Millsfield ATV Club frequents the 100 or so miles of trails around Millsfield Pond but has easy access to many more miles outside the trails they maintain. Both Millsfield Pond and the more remote Bragg Pond are good trout ponds, and Long Pond and Clear Stream are stocked by NH Fish & Game. Hunting is renowned throughout the entire area.

Services in town are few, but there is a campground & restaurant, and a bed and breakfast. Rates are quite affordable, particularly for singles.
