The rocking pop Celtic group Searson will perform in Colebrook on Friday, Jan. 8 at the Tillotson Center at 7 p.m. "Like many performances we've had the pleasure of hosting, Searson will leave the audience breathless and up in their seats," said Charlie Jordan, President of the Great North Woods Committee for the Arts.
The audience will hear solid pop tunes from these two rousing sisters. Searson is Erin and Colleen Searson, two multi-talented Canadian sisters from Ottawa Valley who play a variety of instruments and are expert step dancers. Piano, organ and fiddle guitar are highlighted in their live performances accompanied by acclaimed drummers and percussionists.
In 2011, Searson toured throughout Canada, the U.S., Ireland, Germany, Denmark and headlined one of the largest music festivals in Europe at Festival Ortiguiera, Spain. Searson has always realized that they have had a passion for writing, recording and performing live and have been touring full time for over a decade. Searson has recorded several albums: Erin and Colleen have developed their own original style of high energy fiddling, passionate vocals and step dancing.
The sisters perform will perform with a variety of instruments during the show which includes Colleen on fiddle, vocals and Ottawa Valley step dancing while Erin performs on piano, vocals, Ottawa Valley step dancing and tenor guitar. Danno O'Shea who holds a jazz degree from Humber College rounds out the show by performing on percussion while Fraser Gauthier who studied at Humber College and Capilano University entertains with a bass and guitar.
Growing up in the Ottawa Valley, Ontario, Canada the sisters began to study music at a very young age, performing locally and competing at step dance and fiddle contests. Erin began being classically trained in piano at the age of four through the Royal Conservatory of Music. Colleen has been studying violin and international fiddle methods from age nine. This meticulous preparation enabled the sisters to become accomplished performers and musicians. Their love of incorporating the Ottawa Valley style music with Celtic, East Coast, Scottish and various other styles can be heard throughout the live show.
