UpStateNH.com is owned by George C. Jobel. We are delighted to help our friends and neighbors any way we can!
What does UpStateNH.com cover?
The easy answer is a lot! We want to make a difference and offer help
that works here in the North County. There's a world of difference between Nashua
and Lancaster, Salem and Berlin, etc.
Where do the articles and illustrations come from?
We try hard to cover four things: area events/recreation,
lifestyle/home, business and health. Within those topics are things
like parenting, finances, gardening, current news and more. Because of our love of kids/teens, proximity to Maine, Vermont & Quebec, and our fascination with all things science, outdoors, military and NASA, you'll see occasional articles about them as well.
We don't want people to just survive in the North Country: we want to help you thrive.
A little more than half the articles we publish come to us as press releases
from businesses, the state and federal government. Most of the rest are written
by freelance writers and our staff. Some of the illustrations come from free
sources online, particularly freeimages.com but
many are licensed through photographers or stock image sites.
How big is the site? How much traffic does it get?
As of January 1st, 2016 the site had something shy of 700 pages, and we're currently adding
about 45-50 pages a month. In 2015, the site had 200,289 visitors who together viewed
418,349 pages, a 35.5% growth in visitors and a 40.3% growth in page views over 2014.
Is advertising available?
Yes, as business profiles and as banner ads on it's pages. We don't like a proliferation of advertising. We like the pages to be fresh, clean & attractive, chock full of content so advertising will never be 'lost in the shuffle.'
If you are writing about the North Country, why is your office in Concord?
I had an office in Berlin but returned to Concord. There were many reasons, but as much as any of them, I missed my grandchildren.
