NH Moose Festival 2017: Moose Festival to be held August 25 & 26.

Canaan, VT [July 28, 2017] - An annual celebration worthy of New England's largest land mammal kicks off on Friday, August 25 with the opening of the 2017 Moose Festival. Corrine Rober, Chair of the Marketing Committee for the North Country Chamber of Commerce commends Kathy Meader and Cathy Boutin, the Co-Directors of the Moose Festival. "It's a huge undertaking to plan an event of this size while also running a business."

"This event represents the Festival's 26th year and is truly a celebration of the North Country's communities, culture and of course-the moose," said Kathy Meader, Co-Director of the Festival. "There really is something for everyone."

Presented by Indian Stream Health Center, the event is organized by the North Country Chamber of Commerce and begins on Friday, August 25 at 3:00 p.m. at the Canaan Recreation Park on Route 102 in Canaan. The two-day festival will feature an amazing array of activities including:

Over 75 artisan, craft and food vendors

Tethered hot air balloon rides sponsored by Re/Max

Horse drawn carriage rides provided by the CJEJ Farm

A Classic Car Show sponsored by Brooks Chevrolet and Young's Hotrods and Restoration

CR Helicopters will be offering helicopter rides ($25 per person)

Art contests and shows hosted by the Connecticut River Artisan Group

A dog show presented by Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity

Old fashioned barn dance

NH Fish and Game display featuring officers from Animal Planet's "North Woods Law" TV series

Then there's the true centerpiece of the Festival - the Moose. "And of course, we have lots to offer Moose fans," noted Ms. Meader. "Our event includes moose chili, moose-themed painting classes and a moose calling contest among other activities."

"An event of this size and scope would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors as well as countless community volunteers," said Ms. Meader. "Both have stepped up in a big way for the Festival."

"Special thanks to the Beecher Falls Volunteer Fire Department who will be running the parking lots and collecting gate fees," said Ms. Meader.

Admission to the 2017 Moose Festival is just $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children from 4-12, and free to kids under 4. Those purchasing an admission bracelet on Friday can also attend on Saturday free of charge, just make sure to keep your bracelet on. Event hours are Friday, August 26, 3:00 - 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 26 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Recognizing the area's connection to off-road vehicles, an "ATV Ride-In" will take place Saturday, August 26. ATV riders are asked to gather at 10:00 a.m. at Murphy Dam in Pittsburg. Once assembled, the group will ride down to the Moose Festival.

In addition to the Festival in Canaan, area towns are holding special events during the weekend. The North Country Community Recreation Center in Colebrook will host a guided tour of the river walk on Saturday morning. Also on Saturday, the Amey farm on Tabor Road in Pittsburg will be hosting a "Day at the Farm" with barn tours, live music, an antique tractor and engine show, and tours of the historic Indian Stream School House. That evening, John and Cindy Lou Amey will host their traditional evening of Bluegrass music under the stars in the field on Route 3 in Pittsburg.
